Hi.  I am sorry that I do not speak French!  I am looking for the family of my great grandather who was from Matane.  According to the 1920 Massachusetts census, he could not read or write, so I am not sure of the correct spelling of his name.  His grave is in Chicopee, MA and has his name and the the dates 1867 - 1937.  His wife's name was Jenie.  Their children - Florence, Ellery (Jack), Rose, and Dorothy - were born in Connecticut before they moved to Massachusetts, where they lived until his death.  I believe Jenie was from New Hampshire.  Some posted a genealogy for a Louis Otis who may have been my 2x great grandfather, but there is not a Louis listed as one of his children, perhaps because he did not reside and was not married in Matane.  Any help would be greatly appreaciated. it might help if you   find his marriage in the US   for his parents's names

if he was born in Quebec in 1867 that would be the only  record of him

I see an  entry  on this  s ite  for a marriage   in 1852 in Matane for a Louis Otis   it  could  possibly  be that family?

We'll try to find marriage record, but it could be  Louis Honoré Otis, born on July 14th 1865 and baptized on the 15th at St-Félicité de Matane.  Honoré  is pronounced  HO  NO  RAY  and that's very close to Ellery.  That's why I think it could be him.

Sorry, Louis Honoré is not the one.  Louis Honoré passed away on October 22 1868 at Mount-Louis.
