I am looking to find my native heritage. I know that there is native blood in my family. I am just trying to find the tribe or Métis that I belong to. The problem I have is that I believe the strongest native linkage is on the Valley/Lavalle side of my great grandfathers family which I am unable to find parental information for. The link below has the real rant genealogical data. If anyone can help me I would be greatly appreciative

This looks quite promising! Thank you so much! There is no indication of Emilie Vallée as a child of Jean Baptiste Vallée. Does this need to be added? Also in your opinion do you believe this is pointing to a Metis heritage?

the person who entered the info did not have all of the 10 children of JnBpte & Archange
you may contact that person via the enveloppe above the name and add your info
in a private message
therefore after verification it will be entered
you cannot alter any info already on the site
only the person who posted it initially can
from my observation, there is no presence of indian in this genealogy , you can prove me wrong if you wish

I'm not limiting myself to Indian only but I am expecting Metis instead.

the familysearch church are registers by pariishes I don't have the link , sorry
a metis is a full blooded indian married to a white , so how far do you have to go??
we can go on until the ends of times? I do not understand the logic here

I added the missing links to the "real rant genealogical data" you pointed at the beginning of this thread. And, in my opinion, there's no native or metis in your lineage.
Yves.

There is definitely Metis heritage on the Buteau side of my family. Here is the proof. Check out this link and go to page 35 and note the right column where the marriage of Alphonse Buteau and a Delvina Pariseau. The dates and names match perfectly as well as the parents of Alphonse as shown on this cite and other records. I also found the proof I was looking for proving Metis heritage on the Vallée side of my family. That proof is in the second link where he marriage of Augustine Couture and Marie Louise Boucher is noted. This is corroborated by Augustin's parents and the marriage date. http://www.afgs.org/olb/jms/1997-1.pdf http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/th/read/METIS/2002-09/1031578421

I know the marriage is on this site. It matches up with the marriage in the link to the book I posted which is a tracking of Metis marriages and their descendants. I've been working closely with someone else who agrees this is the case.

Even if we disregard the Buteau line, there is still record of Metis heritage in the Couture line as shown in the second link.

Take a look at this marriage act ( M4 ) : https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3QSQ-G999-28Z3?mode=g&i=1002&cc=1321742
You'll be able to read at the end of the fifth line and the beginning of the sixth " Francis Minjaki algonquin soussigné " . That's what I call a native. His children were metis because her spouse, Louise Brisebois, was a french descendant person and he was Algonquin.
Now tell me where you see Metis people in the Buteau and Couture lineage ( your two links ) that incites you to beleive that they are Metis. Describe me what you consider to be proofs.
Yves.

Lack of an aborignal name does not necessarily mean the person in question is not of native heritage and neither does the lack of "I" or "IND" for race on a census. What leads me to believe I have native heritage is the fact that my ancestors names are listed within Metis genaology records or books despite not toting native surnames. Addtaionlly, the fact that my ancestry DNA profile shows Native American heritage also helps.

Oh, I see.
An article in the American-French Genealogical Society magazine written by Gail Morin and titled "Métis Families" precedes a completely different article by George H. Buteau which the contents is about the Descendants of Pierre Buteau ; this is a proof.
A letter on which you can read a lineage is a proof for you just because you can read "METIS" as the subject ( redirected twice ).

Funny how you neglect to acknowledge the empirical proof of DNA sequencing.

It was absolutely normal to ignore your DNA analysis because it has never been mentionned in all the discussion. And, all of the sudden, you pop out it as an argument.
In which previous generation your DNA analysis was able to identify Natives ? How many links with Natives your DNA analysis was able to identify, because you mentionned the Buteau, the Couture and the Vallée lineages ?
Yves.
