Hello, I'm looking for information on a Noël Champagne who was born in Québec in 1856. I believe he married Rose Parent  in Saint-Edmond Catholic Church in Coaticook, Québec in 1882. I would like to know the exact date of Noël's birth, his place of birth, and the names of his parents. Also the exact date of his marriage to Rose.

With respect to Rose Parent, I believe she was born on 17 July 1867 in Saint-Sylvestre, Québec. I would like to know the names of her parents if anyone knows them.

My sincere gratitude to anyone who can be of assistance!

Fantastic work, Yves. How do you find these documents? I also use FamilySearch, but they never come up in my search results. Do you have expanded access to certain documents? I would like to try to search myself if possible so I don't have to ask here.

One question about the birth record you linked to for Noël--are you sure that's really him? I don't see any mention of "Champagne" in the record. Furthermore, his grave marker in Lewiston, Maine shows 1856 as his year of birth. See here:

To search Québec with Family Search when you know date and parish, use this page :  https://familysearch.org/search/image/index#uri=https://familysearch.org/recapi/sord/collection/1321742/waypoints

For the name Boutin, you must know what is a DIT name.  It will help you to read this : http://genealogy.about.com/b/2010/07/08/understanding-dit-names.htm

How did I get to Boutin ?  I use Généalogie Québec .  When I'm searching "Hypolite Champagne" and "Marguerite", I'm getting few marriages of their children.  But if I use the surname Boutin as suggested ( take a look: http://www.cjoint.com/c/FDhtjRQXGiX  )  I get many results  :  http://www.cjoint.com/c/FDhtk0Xd4GX  .

On the last listing, notice the marriages in Coaticook and Ste-Edwidge-de-Clifton.  The marriage in Coaticook in 1874 is for Césarie Boutin, born in 1855 in St-Cyprien.  The marriage in 1880 in Ste-Edwidge is for Celina, born in 1861 in St-Cyprien.  The marriage in 1881 in Ste-Edwidge is for Joseph, born in 1859 in St-Cyprien.  All these appears on the last listing.

About the birth year, identity papers did not exist in this time.  So, people had to remember date give by mother or father.  So, errors was possible.  And, notice that this date on the grave was not give by Noel, but somebody else.
