My mother was born in Mont Joli in 1932. She was adopted and has never known who her birth parents are. She was adopted by Achille Francoeur and Alphonsine Banville in 1938. It's very possible her mothers name was Valcourt/Vallencourt. My mother may also have lived with Marie-Jeanne D'allaire and her husband for the first 6 years. My mother is now 83 and I know she always thinks about who her biological parents are. 

Please, help if you can.

i am searching for Francoeur's that lived in the Mont Joli/Rimouski areas of Quebec. I have little information and here it is: My grandfather Joseph Achilles Francoeur,his wife was Alphonsine Banville. Joseph died Dec 19 1941. He had two children, Adelebert and Jeanne who was born in 1932. Adelebert had three children, Marcelle,Andre, Pierrette. Joseph worked for the CNR . Adelebert married Germaine Dufour. My mother(Jeanne Francoeur) has been estranged from her brothers family for more than fifty years. She is in her seventies and is living in Nova Scotia. She has seven children,married to Maurice Lamirande. If anyone can give me some connection to any Francoeurs who may be related,I would be forever in your debt.

I have tried to the past to assit in searches so here  are some of the  problems

first  your mother herself must make the request to the governement

one person  tried  but  her grandmother had passed away , born in 1921 and they refused to reply to the request  also   if you  have her birthday it would help tremendously

is there a baptism record  ?? somewhere???

did you try to obtain one??

another avenue , letters to the editor to the local nerwspapers ,they are free .....

sorry I live in Ontario so I am not  able to acces  government  offices in Quebec ,sorry

if the  adoption was legal it was recorded in the  palais de justice  ( court house )

of the region      according to the norm but then  by accident   I found one in the hands of the bishop   at the diocese of the region

OK the church does not  register adoptions so my cousin the lawyer told me ,  but  in that case it was what can I say  a unique  affair

to find the adoption record and the baptism certificate.  I was not able to find anymore

information. I live in Ns, so it is difficult.

In the Mont-Joli registry, we can see that  Marie-Jeanne Année was born the 1st of January 1932 from unknown parents and baptized the second.  At the end of this registry, we can read a typed note certifying that parents of Marie-Jeanne were Achille Francoeur and Alphonsine Banville.

In both writings, Alfred Banville and Jeanne Dallaire were the godfather and godmother.

I believe there people that know the information I am looking for.

Adalbert Francoeur, was her 'brother' and older by at least 20 years. Adalbert, I'm sure, knew the truth. He has long passed. I do not understand why people choose to keep secrets and don't do what is good.

Thank you Yves. I found that information. I also believe the adoption took place in 1938 by Achille and Alphonsine. I was always curious that her brother was much older.

Joseph Achille and Alphonsine got married on April 6th, 1912, at St-Joseph-de-Lepage.  Adalbert was born on April 7, 1913, baptized the 8th à Mont-Joli.

Maybe there was a "family secret" in this case.

I always thought that was interesting. It is such a sad thing if that is the case. My mother feeling alone and abandoned when the truth would have changed many things for my mother.

I think  I have my own conclusions here

always , like your mother  here   they are the victim for no apparent reason

it is a shame that  the church allowed the  records to be so  twisted to protect the guilty

party , I have experienced  it    many times  and they all went to their graves   thinking it was   allowed 

to do so  ,   please tell your mother   it is very sad   and I know it  hurts  but  she   is better off  not knowing

because nothing can be changed ever    sorry

You wrote that Adalbert had 3 children.  I found one more.  Georges who married Annette Lapierre in 1967.

Marcel married Thérèse Boucher in 1958.  Andrée married Jules-Guy Cazes in 1964 and Pierrette married Marcel Bourque in 1958.
