Hello I am looking for information of Edmound Dumais who married first Gilles Guiertin and second Aglae Mercier and had 11 children between the two wives. I believe that Pierre Dumas (no "i") and Josephine Beumount to be his parents as I have a copy of Edmound and Gilles mar certificate that states Pierre and Chrlotte Mathon. My line to date is Aurella Dumais, Cleophas, Edmound, Pierre????

I havve also tied back my Malo/Ayette line back to France 1606!

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

First of all, the second wife was Aglaé Messier, not Mercier (marriage November 27^th 1867 in Saint-Marc-de-Cournoyer). The name of the first wife is given as Gilette Guertin.

As to the parents of Henry Edmond Dumais, they were Pierre Dumais and Charlotte Mathon, married November 11^th 1822 in Verchères. Henri Edmond Dumais was born July 10^th 1831, baptised the same day also in Verchères.

In the 1852 Census, Edmond Dumais, age 18, lived in Verchères.

Here is the family in the 1861 Census, in Saint-Antoine:

1. Edmond Dumais, age 29
2. Giles Guertin, age 28
   1. Napoléon, age 4
   2. Hormisdas, age 2
   3. Joseph, age 1

As to Pierre Dumas and Josette Beaumont, they are totally unrelated people. As you noted yourself, the surname is different, and they lived in Québec City (nowhere near Verchères county).
