Aaron

I am researching my Quesnel connection. From many sources including a You Tube video, all the Quesnel descendants in North America are from Olivier Quesnel and Catherine Prud'homme from 1680.

I would like to know where my Great Grandfather fits into all of this. My Great Grandfather was Raoul Quesnel. According to one source, he was born on October 24 1900 and he died somethime in 1955.

Based on some research that I conducted, I found the following Raoul Quesnels and I am wondering if they could be my Great Grandfather.

1.) Raoul Quesnel, he was born on August 23, 1898 to Emery and Mathilde Quesnel (Seguin). Emery was born in 1866 and Mathilde was born in 1871. Something appeared to go wrong because Mathilde passed away and Emery remarried Mary McManus

2.) Raoul Quesnel was born in Febraury 1895 to Philonin or Philorum Quesnel and Dorina Quesnel. Philonin was born in November 1859 and Dornina was born in August 1860.

3.) Raoul Quesnel was born in July 1901. His father was Octave Quesnel and his mother was Eva Quesnel. Octave Quesnel was born in March 1871 and his mother, Eva was born in August 1877.

These are the three Raoul's that I have obtained. What would be fantastic is if anyone can tell me which one of the above Raoul's married Kathleen Young in either Athens or Port Robinson in Ontario and had four children which included my Grandmother?

Thanks for reading. Any feedback would be very interesting.

Kind regards

Aaron

Dear Roger

Thank you for your message. Yes, I am familiar with Earl Quesnel. He is my great uncle. My Grandmother is Marie Agnes Quesnel. Earl Quesnel was her brother. I have heard the name Tim before. You say that Raoul Quesnel was born in 1906 in Ontario, however, my Grandmother was born on June 14 1921, this would have made him 15 years old.

I had a look at the family search website and I found another Raoul Quesnel who was born in Ontario in 1893. His Father was Thomas Quesnel and his mother was Helene Dellaire. I say this because he would have been in his late 20's when my Grandmother was born. Thank you for your info on Earl Quesnel. I had no idea that he died in March 1982, that was just three months before I was born.

Thank you for reading this message. I truly appreciate the effort that you have put in. I am just happy to know that other people out there have heard of Raoul Quesnel.

Kind regards. Take care.

Dear Rene

Thank you for your post. I would like to know more information about this book. I know that it will help me out alot. All I know is that there are many branches of the Quesnel Family, however, with North America, everyone comes from Olivier.

So anymore information that you can provide me about this book, I would be extremely grateful.

Thank you once again for reading. I look forward to any further responses.

Take care

Aaron

Hello again,
Found in the 1901 and 1911 Canada Census, Hector Quesnel and father Cleopas....
however, there is no "Raoul"...I still think there is a link, however difficult to establish.

Your Thomas Quesnel and Helene Dellaire (Dallaire), has possibilities.

Hi Aaron,
I doubt that the Raoul you found, born 13 jan 1893, parents: Thomas Quesnel and
Helene Dalaire, is the right one.

Thomas Quesnel and Helene Dalaire married 19 oct 1885, St Jean Bap., L'Orignal.
Raoul died on 26 aug 1972 in St-Jerome, Qc

Dear Roger.

I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for finding the information that you have found. I deeply appreciate your efforts very much. Thank you for telling me about Joseph Hector Quesnel. From your research, you found the marriage record for both Joe and Kathleen in 1920. I looked at the family search website and I have found that there is a Joseph Hector Quesnel who was born on October 24, 1900 in Prescott Ontario. October 24 1900 is exactly the same birth date that I have on a document about Raoul or Joseph Quesnel.

You would not know it but from your research, you have definately solved the Quesnel and Young family puzzle, if it is not solved, then it is very close to being solved. I feel that the information you have provided is very promising and I feel that I know more about the Quesnel family than I did a few days ago. I feel more confident in establishing a link to Olivier and Catherine Quesnel (Prud'homme)

I thank you for your efforts and I look forward to any further contributions you wish to make.

Kind regards. Have a good weekend

Aaron

Dear Renee

Thank you for your efforts as well. It is a shame that you could not access the book, it would have been full of useful information. As regards to Raoul, my great grandfather may have been known under another name, Joseph Hector. I was directed to the family search site, I typed in Joseph Hector Quesnel and it came up with the result that he was born in Prescott Ontario on October 24 1900, the exact same day that Raoul Quesnel was born. I have a document at home which confirms that the birthday is exactly the same. I believe now that Raoul was Joseph Hector Quesnel.

Renee, I thank you very much for all your efforts. I am truly glad that this appeal I made was as successful as it turned out to be.

I look forward to any future contributions that you wish to make.

Kind regards and have a good weekend

Dear Renee

Please forgive my late response, I read that you know the Young Family quite well. I would like to say that any information that you would like to share with me about The Young Family would be greatly apprecitated. I was a little confused about the name that you mentioned. But from what you have said, the Young's were united empire loyalists. I would like to know more?

Thank you for reading. I look forward to hearing from you very soon
