My grandmother Anna Lachance daughter of Isaie and Celina lived in St. Alexis de Monts as a child.  Her parents were born in Canada.  She told us she was born in Menominee, MI, but raised in Canada.  She was born May 19, 1892. 

She also told us that her father was a mounted police officer and would hunt down criminals in the mountains.  I believe St. Alexis de Monts is in the Laurentian mountain area.

I would love to get some insight into her life in St. Alexis de Monts, she loved it there.  When she married in 1913 to Arthur Boucher she was living in the U.S. New Hampshire is where they got married.

I am anxious to find out more about her family.  We were told that either her grandmother or great grandmother was of indian decent. 

Anyway wanted to touch base with someone that might have more information that they could share with me.  I am so happy I found Genealogy of Canada I've found that the little information I was able to get on my own was on the right track.

I think that the father Isaie is... Isaac Lachance (in BMS) married to Celina Duhaime married the 16/04/1883 at St-Alexis des  Monts....

are you certain  that she is born in 1892 ?

In my logiciel of New Hampshire the wife of Georges is Helene Levesque parent of  Frank  Boucher married at D.Gilbert le 17/04/1893 St-Mattew,Whitefield,N.H ...I did not find the mariage of Georges and Helene ..in USA...the one I have is Georges Boucher (Narcisse,Thecle Meunier) married at Helene Levesque (Zacharie,Charlotte PLourde) le 10/07/1866 St-Pacôme.Kamouraska.

the  Mounted Police was  started in December 1920

previously the  North West   Police   was  only in the  western provinces

Bonjour!  Maybe I'll learn more French talking with you here.  I know a few words, because my mom speaks French not fluently, but she gets by. 

My grandmother died in Waltham, Massachusetts.  That's where we were living at the time.  I will double check with my mom.

I know the census say Quebec as her birth place, but I've found another census report that says Menominee, Michigan and that's what my grandmother said too. 

So the record you found is for my great grandfather Isaie when he was 10 years old, that's amazing!

Were you able to find any more information about my grandmothers birth records?

I've done some searching, but I haven't got much more.  The Lachance website that Rene told me about is very interesting and some of my family is there as well. 

I think it would be nice if I could visit St. Alexis de Monts some day.  I've been to Montreal and Niagara Falls. We stayed on the Canadian side of the falls and would visit the surrounding country side, it was beautiful.  Visited Niagara on the Lake.

I have that informartion already.  I've been trying to solve the mystery of my grandmother's birth place.  She said she was born in Michigan, but was raised in St. Alexis de Monts with her brothers and sisters. 

Some census records say she was born in Michigan and others say she was born in Quebec.  So I have a little mystery on my hands.

What is bizarre its that I live nearby St-Alexis des Monts hihih ....about 15 minutes  in car  !! .If you come in Canada it will be a plaisur to see you at home,,,,if you do come just say to me and I will give you my adresse with plaisir 

For your search, ...no I did not had the time to search because a brother need me at Montreal .......but today I will look for it and tell you if I fins something!
