Alexis Laliberte's wife was Marie Robillard, daughter of Marie Anne Lagimodiere and Baptiste Robillard, born Nov 1,1826 in Grand Forks ND, died 1901 at St Francis Xavier MB
.
Alexis was born March 10,1822, died in 1898 in St Eustache MB (or Baie St Paul, MB).
Their children were Joseph, Jean Baptiste, Angelique, Eiienne, Modeste, Lazare, Therese, Arsenoe, Joachim (Justin).
Joachim (Justin) is my grandfather, and Alexis is my great grandfather.
Alexis worked for the HBC as a bowsman in various places in what is now NWT but his home base was Baie St Paul/St Eustache MB. where his family was born.
Some historians have placed Alexis as part of Pierre Laliberte/ Josephte Gaudry's family. Other info I have says his parents were" unknown"(inconnue).My own father had told me he thought his name was Joseph. Another descendent (Arsenoe's line) and an earlier curator at the St Boniface museum tells me he went by all three names Alexis, Joseph ad Pierre. Is there anyone out there who has researched and found proof of Alexis parentage? I believe Alexis wife was a metisse probably of Cree descent.
