Searching for more on the Gresse family

This database indicates that Richard Gresse (ID No. 609610) married Marie Butelot (ID No. 611892) when Marie was just 6 years old.  Really?  What is the source for this? Also, this database indicates that Richard Gresse married Josephte Menard at Notre Dame de Quebec, parents being Pierre Gresse (of Dublin, Ireland) and Marie Sarlinne.  What is the basis for assuming that this Richard Gresse is one and the same as the one above who married Marie Butelot?  No records in Dublin or England for a Pierre Gresse marrying a Marie Sarlinne.

Normand,

I checked this case with available parish records and PRDH.
There is no evidence, that Richard Gresse is the father of Richard Gresse

On the marriage record July 15, 1765 the priest noted that Richard Graice is from Dublin in Ireland, bachelor, living in Quebec City. According PRDH there are no known children.

I found the other Richard Dick in the 1861 census - born in Nova Scotia - 104 years old. At his dead 108 years. On the maririage 1791 in Kamouraska the priest wrote "Richard Gresse, demeurant dans cet paroisse fils de Richard Gresse et de Marie Butelot ses père et mère demeurant en cet XXXX d'une part..." I am not able to read the word XXXX, looks like izniz

1826 in Carleton, his name is Richard Degrace and he signed with this name.

I removed the parents for Richard Gresse, there is really no proof.

Thank you, Hans for making the correction.  My brother and I have been searching for the marriage record for Richard Gresse dit Dick/ Marie Butelot for many years with no results.  On the one hand we see many Gresse families in Drome, France and Butelot families in Oise, but no luck getting the two together.  Then there is the testimony of my great aunt Bertha Dick who insisted she was 'Ecossaise',  so we looked all over Scotland and Ireland....many Dick families but nobody marrying a Butelot or Putales-Butelot.  The Contrat Colin document for the Gresse/Mignault marriage at Kamouraska indicates the parents to be Richard Gresse and Marie Rottetin.  This has been a very intriguing but very frustrating search.
