is there anyone in this area that speaks english.  i live in illinois and i am researching the

gagnon family and wish i could speak and read french, but  i cannot. i have learned

to read a lot of french but i still have a very long way to go. my husband and i both are

trying to learn but it is not easy when you have no one to practice on.

I have in St-Joseph,Catholic Cemetery,  Prairie du Rocher, Illinois a Gagnon Father J. died 1755 , Pastor of St-Anne's  Parish at FT.....its the only one I have !

I am trying to connect my Joseph Gagnon/Guyon to the Gagnon family in Quebec.

He changed his name from Gagnon to Guyon here in Illinois. Do not know why.

He came here in around 1854 from St Dominque. my problem is trying to find his parents.  He was either born in St Hyacinthe or St. Dominque in between 1824 and 1827

I would love some help.  Been in Montreal and St Dominque.

i found my Joseph, he was born in St. Hyacinthe, Quebec on oct. 24,1824 not 1827

he married Sophia Decelles in St Dominque, Quebec on 19 Jun 1848

died in Effingham, Illinois 24 Jan 1894

A new grave stone was placed in the cemetery this year.
