Yvette Marie "Ti Chou" Sirois, 92, a lifelong resident of Augusta and communicant of St. Augustine Church, died of complications from heart failure on Nov. 15, 2013, at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta, surrounded by her loving family. She had been a patient for 10 days and had resided independently at Chateau Cushnoc for the past 13 years.
She was born in Augusta on May 28, 1921, the daughter of Aime and Aimee (Pare) Doyon. On Aug. 12, 1940, she married Gerard Sirois, of Augusta, who died on Dec. 12, 1979.
Yvette lived a full life, raised two devoted sons with her husband, and was a treasured older sister to her siblings. Her life of giving extended to neighbors and friends as well as to family. A loving homemaker, Yvette also worked outside the home at R.P. Hazzard and Hallowell Shoe shops. In 1981, after she retired as a state employee, she began traveling the world with her beloved sister, Henriette. These trips became lasting and cherished memories.
She was predeceased by her parents, all of her siblings, her daughter-in-law Patricia Sirois, and her husband, Gerard.
Survivors include two sons: Wilfred Sirois and his wife, Joyce, of Scarborough, and Joseph Sirois and his wife, Anne, of Rumford; four grandchildren: Jon Sirois and his wife, Julie, of Buxton, Amy Sirois and her partner, Tracy Palm, of South Portland, Bradley Sirois and his wife, Coleen, of Murrieta, Calif., and Julie Mills and her husband, James, of Madera, Calif.; four great-grandchildren: Connor Sirois, Jordan Sirois, Riley Sirois and Kale Sirois-Kramer; four dear sisters-in-law, and many nieces and nephews who affectionately called her "Ma Tante Ti Chou."
