Walter was in the Navy, went AWOL, stole an automobile and was caught in New Jersey and brought back to Connecticut and spent a year in jail. After that, his brother Robert got him a job as the cook for the State Police Barracks in Stafford, CT and he ended up embezzling from them and was put back in Tolland County, Jail. When he got out, he went to Buffalo, NY and then disappeared.
