This couple did not marry. The father's name on the baptismal act in the Black Donald Mission records is left blank; only the mother's name is present. The child's name in the margin is entered as "Narcisse Illegitimate", and in the Act simply as "Narcisse". There are blank spaces also for the two godparents. // It is believed the father was of Scottish heritage, born in Renfrew County, about the same age as the child's mother, and that he worked as a lumberjack. A story circulating in Leclair / Leclaire family lore hints that his surname _MAY_ have been MacLennan or McLelland. There is a Scots family by the surname of McLELLAN with significant history in the area of Renfrew Town, Renfrew County, Ontario. The possible genetic link is being explored (Nov 2018).
