LEWISTON — Rosaire E. "Ross" LaFrance, 87, of 1048 Sabattus St., Lewiston passed away Monday, Aug. 9, at Marshwood Health Care Facility with family at his side.

He was born in Lewiston, July 3, 1923, a son of Edmond and Maria (Beaulieu) LaFrance. He was educated in local schools and remained a lifelong resident of this community. In 1979, he married the former Lucille Bell. Ross worked 30 years at Lewiston Lumber as a draftsman and customer service representative, then later went to work for his brother Bert and subsequently his brother Roger.

After his retirement, he also worked part-time for Aubuchon Hardware. He was a veteran of the military having served his country in the Army during World War II and was a member of Holy Cross Church, The American Legion and the VFW.

Mr. LaFrance was an avid golfer, playing most of the time at Fairlawn Country Club, and enjoyed traveling and following and watching the Boston Red Sox. He was a loving, devoted and hardworking husband, father and grandfather, who will be dearly missed.

He leaves his wife of 31 years, Lucille LaFrance of Lewiston; his son, Robert LaFrance and his longtime friend, Paula Monaghan, of Lewiston; a stepdaughter, M. Glenda Wilson of Bowdoin; a stepson, E. Rodney Wilson of Lewiston; a grandson, Brian LaFrance and wife, Leslie, of Portland; a sister, "Gibby" Bourgoin of Chandler, Ariz.; two brothers, Bert LaFrance of Lewiston and Lenny LaFrance of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a sister, Terry Poulin; and two brothers, Roger LaFrance and Dick LaFrance.

The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to the staff of Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice for the wonderful care given to Rosaire during his illness.
