Gathered a troop of Canadian rebels and marched to Crown Point to meet up with General Montgomery on September 1, 1775. Fought with the American troops in the Siege of Fort Chambly, Saint-Jean and Montreal leading the group of Canadian rebels acting in the Capacity of Captain. Signed with the 1st Canadian Regiment under the command of Col. James Livingston where he was promoted to the rank of Major. He was left to Garrison Montreal until the 1st of Jan 1776 when he received orders from General Montgomery to deliver dispatches to Philadelphia where we next find him addressing the Continental Congress on 12 Feb 1776 requesting that a delegation of three be sent to Canada to speak with the Canadians. One of the three would be Benjamin Franklin. We also find him later on endorsing Franklin's report to the Continental Congress where he initialed the report.
