Two Men Scalded To Death at Piercelield.
Tupper Lake, August 16.—Two men were killed almost instantly at 10 o'clock this morning in an explosion at the plant of the International Paper company at Pierceficld.
A steam valve of a drying machine blew up and both victims were scalded to death. The dead: Peter Badore, 42, Tupper Lake Junction; Frank Dumas, 55, Piercefleld. The men were at work in a pit under the machine to which the valve was attached. They had gone to the pit to make repairs. The full
force of the escaping steam struck them without warning.
Other workers in the room quickly shut off the steam, but were too late to save the men's lives. Badore lived a few seconds, Dumas died instantly. While the explosion rocked the building it did no great damage. No other workers were harmed by the steam.
Both men were married and leave families. Badore is survived by his wife, Mrs. Cora Badore, and a daughter, Veronica Badore, 13. Dumas also leaves a wife and a 12-year-old daughter.
Badore had been in the employ of the paper company nearly 22 years. Dumas has also put in a long period of service as a papermaker.
