In the death of Mrs. Delia Hebert Shambo, which occurred at her home in Au Sable Forks village Saturday evening, July 11, 1936, at 7:30 o'clock, the community has lost another of its old and highly esteemed residents, aged 88 years.
Mrs. Shambo was born in Canada, but came to the Au Sable Valley with her parents to make her home when little more than a child, and had lived here during all of the remaining years of her life with the exception of two years spent in the west following her marriage. She witnessed the many changes which came to this section and had a vivid recollection of all of the important changes during the nearly three-quarters of a century she had lived here.
Her husband, the late Louis Shambo, died about thirty years ago.
For the last two years Mrs. Shambo had been in failing health, and for several months prior to her death her condition had been serious. She was survived by seven children, Mrs. Jennie Snow of this village, Louis Shambo of Holyoke, Massachusetts, Mrs. Edward Lecey of Middlebury, Vermont, Edward Shambo of Plattsburgh, Daniel Shambo of Au Sable Forks, Mrs. Grover James of Springfield, Massachusetts, and Mrs. Benjamin Snow of Au Sable Forks. Over thirty grandchildren and fully as many great grandchildren also survive her.
The funeral was held from Holy Name church Tuesday forenoon, July 14, 1936, at 9:30 o'clock, Rev. James Gainor officiating at the requiem high mass and the interment was in Holy Name cemetery.
