Michel was a farmer living with his family at La Rochelle, Québec from 1862 to 1877 and in 1884 and 1905 where he signed his name Michel Melançon. In 1880, he was living in the parish of St-Augustin, Manchester, New Hampshire and in 1883, he was noted as a carpenter living at Clinton Massachusetts, ÉU.
