The only photo I have of her is one that was seen within a Newman & Mary Hutchings family portrait, hanging on the wall behind the children. She is seen posing with her brother Albert when he was 12, around 1855. Albert was killed during the Civil War at age 19 in Secessionville SC (16 June 1862). Both Albert and Mary made the Atlantic crossing with her husband Frederick in 1853 shortly after they were married.
Mary is buried at Oakwood Cemetery in Bennington, Michigan.
Albert lies in an undiscovered mass grave on the property of the Fort Lamar battlefield, now a Heritage Preserve in Charleston, South Carolina.
