He was born in Patrie, Quebec son of Charles and Clara (Bernier) Giard. h/o the former Lodowiska Vermette whom he married May 28, 1938.

He was educated in Canadian schools and moved to Lewiston, ME in 1921.

He is survived by his wife Lodowiska; four daughters Lucille McLellan and Mrs George (Joan) Bouchard both of Lewiston, ME; Sister Rolande Giard of the Presentation of Mary of Methuen, MA; Mrs Laurier (Jeannette) Pelletier of Leeds, ME; a son Ludger Jr of Lewiston, ME; a sister Eva Couture of Winthrop, ME two brothers Gerard of Auburn, ME and Marcel of Portland, ME.

A sister Aurore Auclair died in March of last year.
