Lionel J. Desruisseaux
He was born Jan. 10, 1924, in Manchester, the son of Nestor and Philomene (Dubois) Desruisseaux and had been a lifelong resident of Manchester.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was the recipient of the Bonze Star for heroic action in connection with a military operation in Germany and was also a participant in the Battle of the Bulge.
Mr. Desruisseaux was a truck driver for Quinn Transportation and Auclair Transportation before his retirement.
He was a member of the Chauffeur's Teamsters & Helpers Local Union 633 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 8214.
He is survived by his wife, Vera (Huggins) Desruisseaux of Manchester; three daughters, Elaine Pratt of Ringe, Irene Graveline of Manchester and Rose Aired of Raymond; two sons, George Desruisseaux of Honolulu, Hawaii, and David Desruisseaux of Concord; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Thursday in Sacred Heart Church, Manchester. Burial was in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
