Obituary: STURBRIDGE - Leopold J. Spenard, 83, of 11 Simpson St., a retired tool engineer, died yesterday in Whitcomb House, Milford, after an illness.
His wife, Rose (LePire) Spenard, died in 1995. He leaves a daughter, Jacqueline Castonguay of Southbridge; three sisters, Irene Bergeron and Gertrude Gregoire, both of Southbridge, and Sister Rachel Spenard, with the Carmelite Order in the Philippines; three grandchildren; nephews and nieces. He was born in Shawinigan Falls, Quebec, son of Alphonse and Aurore (Monpas) Spenard, and lived here most of his life.
He was an engineer at Numa Tool Co. in Thompson, where he worked for 23 years before retiring. He was a member of St. Anne & St. Patrick's Church in Fiskdale.
The funeral will be held Monday from Daniel T. Morrill Funeral Home, 130 Hamilton St., Southbridge, with a Mass at 11 a.m. in St. Anne & St. Patrick's Church, 16 Church St., Fiskdale. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at the funeral home.
