Leo R. Lachapelle, 81

Woodstock, CT - Leo R. Lachapelle 81, of Lachapelle Road, Woodstock, CT died Wednesday at the Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam.

He was the husband of the late Doris (Forrest) Lachapelle, they were married in 1986, she died April 01, 2004. His first wife Marie (Gauthier) Lachapelle, he married May 01, 1943, she died in 1982. He was born September 16, 1922 in Woodstock, son of the late Narisce and Hannah (Mathieu) Lachapelle.

Leo worked as a butcher for over 13 years at Bradley Meat in Southbridge, MA; he also worked for several years at the U S Plastics in Putnam as a machine operator. He made his home in Woodstock all his life, a communicant of St Stephen Church in Quinebaug and a member of the VFW in Putnam. He was a veteran of World War Two serving with the US Army. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening and farming.
He leaves three daughters, Elaine Lachapelle of Wookstock; Rita Lachapelle and Diane Lachapelle-Ortyl both of East Hartford; step-son Denis Robidas and his wife Jeanne of Plainfield; step-daughter Claudette Avola of Peabody, MA; a granddaughter - Michelle Ortyl of E. Hartford.

Funeral Service Saturday 10:30 from the Smith & Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove Street, Putnam followed by an 11:00am Funeral Mass of Christian Burial in St Stephens Church, 130 Old Turnpike Road, Quinebaug, CT. Calling hours Saturday 9:00-10:00am at the Funeral Home. Burial in Barlow Cemetery, Woodstock with military honors.
