AUGUSTA -- Joseph Laurier Pare, 82, of Graybirch Drive and formerly of Academy Street, Hallowell, died May 9, 2007, at MaineGeneral Rehabilitation & Nursing Care at Graybirch Drive, after an extended illness.
Prior to his retirement in 1985, Mr. Pare was employed as a cook by St. Paul's Center in Augusta for 10 years. He was previously employed by Edwards Manufacturing Co. for 45 years.
Mr. Pare was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Hallowell and St. Paul's Cursillistas and Prayer Group, and was a former member of the Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks of Augusta.
His wife, Bernice C. (Bard) Pare, died Oct. 2, 2001. He also was predeceased by a sister, Lucienne Beaulieu, in 2005; and a brother, Robert "Babe" Pare, in 2001.
Surviving are a son, Roger Pare of Rockland; two daughters, Jean Arbour and her husband, Roland, of Belgrade,, and Ann Pare of North Carolina; four stepsons, Antoine Albert of Skowhegan, Joseph "Dede" Albert of Chelsea, Roland Albert of Florida and Donald Albert of Kissimmee, Fla.; one brother, Laurent Pare of Augusta; one sister, Desneige Beaulieu of Augusta; 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
