Woonsocket--Joseph Willie Rainville, 97, a resident of the Woonsocket Health and Rehabilitation Centre, 262 Poplar St. died Thursday { Feb.22,2001} at
home. He was the husband of Melodore E {Bourque} Rainville. Born June 21, 1903, in St. Jean-Matha, Canada, a son of the late Ferdinand and Marieanne {Cloutier} Rainville, he had lived in Lincoln for 40 years and North Smithfield for 27 years before moving to Woonsocket in 1997. Mr. Rainville worked as a twister in various textile mills for most of his life. He also worked in the construction industry, and was a member of Carpenters Union Local 94 of Providence. He was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church in Slatersville. He was a past member of the AARP. Mr. and Mrs. Rainville celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary on July 8. He is also survived by a daughter, Beverly Laliberte of North Smithfield: two granddaughters: and two great granddaughters.
He was the brother of the late Arthur, Adolphe and Olila Rainville, Gracia Laliberte, Elodie Deshaises, Merilda Plante, Albina Houle and Alexandrina Paulette.
Private services and burial in St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery, Bellingham, Ma., are under the direction of the Egidio Dipardo and Sons Funeral Home, 75 Harris Ave.,Woonsocket.
