Beloved husband of 69 years to Thérèse (née Comtois) Lachapelle. Son of the late Louis-Zéphirin and of the late Christine (née Pitre) Lachapelle. Loving father of Gilles (Diane), Paulette, Bill (Lesley), Monique and Bernard (Raymond). Dear brother of Léonie Castonguay (late Tyne), Gérard (Lucille), Hector (Hélène) and Roger (Irène). Predeceased by his brothers Léo (Jeanne), Aimé (Rita), Rhéaume (Lucille), Henri (Gloria), Rosario and by his sisters Marie-Ange (Onis), Alma (Urbain) and Jeanne (Rhéal). Sadly missed by 5 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was known by his grandchildren as “Papajoe”. Joseph worked as a First Class carpenter and Shop foreman for Barlow and Sons for 17 years and also worked for 23 years for the Sudbury Seperate School Board as a Maintenance Superintendant. He also volunteered for many years at the Lasalle Residence and at Extendicare Falconbridge and was an active member of la Paroisse St-Dominique, Sudbury. Joseph lived his final years at St-Gabriel Villa, Chelmsford. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at St-Gabriel Villa.
Your kindness and care were greatly appreciated during his final journey. The family will receive relatives and friends at the COOPERATIVE FUNERAL HOME, 222 Lasalle Blvd, Sudbury on Friday, March 7th, 2014 from 2 to 5 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 8th, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Paroisse Ste-Anne-des-Pins, Sudbury. As expressions of sympathy, donations to St-Gabriel Villa – Vermillion (by cheque only) or to the Parkinson Society Canada would be appreciated.
