According to oral history, John Kenny and a least two brothers, arrived from Ireland in 1825 during the Great Fire of Miramichi ( 7 Oct 1825 ). Upon arriving, they had to stay offshore, on the boat, for several days because of the fire and the smoke.

John and Ann were married on Dec 28th 1828, civil wedding because Ann was a protestant. She made her declaration of principles on July 15th, 1832 in Tracadie. Then they were married at the Catholic Church of Inkerman, August 26th, 1837. Witness: Valentin Gibbs & Mrs Margaret Drysdale.
