Jeannette M. Beaudoin, age 91, of Manchester, died Thursday, March 4, 2010 at the Hillsborough County Nursing Home where she had been a resident for the past 6 years.
Mrs. Beaudoin was born on November 18, 1918 in Thetford Mines, Canada, the daughter of the late Joseph and Delia (Belgarde) Laverdiere. While attending NH College after it first opened its doors she worked in the office at the college for many years. She married Omer J Beaudoin on July 4, 1940 in Manchester; he passed away in December of 2005. Together they owned Beaudoin’s General Store on Varney Street in Manchester for 18 years. After retiring from the store, they lived in Palm Springs, CA for nine years before returning to NH.
While in California she was an active swimmer and competed in the Senior Olympics in the 70 to 80 age group and won a gold, silver, and bronze metal in the breaststroke. She was a great cook, seamstress, and dedicated loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Omer in 2005, and a son Marcel in 1964 and three brothers and one sister.
Her family includes; nine children, Omer F. Beaudoin and his wife Dolores, of Manchester, Denise Goltz of Colorado, Alice Benard and her husband Thomas, of Manchester, Victor Beaudoin and his wife Barbara, of Raymond NH, Martha Derosier and her husband Richard, of New Jersey, Charles Beaudoin and his wife Joy Adam, of New Jersey, Paul J. Beaudoin and his wife Celeste, of Manchester, Yvette Dexterand her husband Harvey, of Manchester, and Claire Saladin and her husband Vincent, of Vermont; two sisters, Elizabeth Leiblein and Gabriel McGuire both of Florida; 26 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren
Calling hours will be on Monday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Goodwin Funeral Home, 607 Chestnut St, Manchester NH. A Mass in celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at St Raphael Church, 103 Walker St. Reverend Jerome Day will officiate.
