John resided in Detroit. When 28 years old he purchased from Louis Logan 20 acres of Private Claim 36 in Springwells. In 1854 John received from Margaret Lorrain a quit claim to all rights title and interest to a parcel of land lying south of Central Railroad, between said R.R. and Baby Creek, a branch of the River Rouge. He sold this 20 acres to his brother Joseph, the same year. In 1857 John purchased from Hiram M. Lapham 5.21 acres off Lot 5, Private Claim 567 in Springwells south of Central R.R. This same year the Michigan Central Railroad purchased from Louis Logan and John Lorrain a parcel of land in Springwells being so much of Private Claim 36 as lies within 50 ft each side of the center line of main track of said Railroad.
