I found him in the Canadian Census records starting in 1891, he was about 10 years old at that time and he was living with Cyprien Gagne and his wife, they had no children of their own. He was an orphan born in England and arrived in Canada around 1889. I don't think he was actually adopted as he refers to Cyprien Gagne as a friend at his. marriage
