Emma had ten children. She died shortly after she gave birth to Mary Catherine. Prior to her death, she had made arrangements for her infant to be raised by Mr & Mrs McRae. It was her dying wish that Mary Catherine would not be told of her adoption since she believed this would make the adoption easier for Mary Catherine's new family. Mary Catherine Legroulx became Sister Theresita after entering the Ursuline Novitiate convent 15 Aug 1916. It was at that time that her true parents were revealed.
