Eliza was the daughter of Joseph Couture (b. France)(Note by FCR not born in France) & Louise Vezina / Viseneau (b. 1809, Canada) Joseph and Louise were married in Quebec in 1833.

The Coutures had six children:

1. Joseph (b. 1838) 2. George (b. 1841) 3. Mary (b. 1844) 4. Anna (b. 1849) 5. Eliza (b. 10 Jun 1851, d. 24 Mar 1936) << married Thomas Muir

6. Leonora (b. 1855)

Thomas & Eliza (Couture) Muir had eight children (all but the 1st born in Wisconsin) :
