CHENIER, Delphis Joseph
Passed away at his home in Waterdown, after a long and prosperous life, on Thursday, June 23, 2016 at the age of 94. Beloved husband for nearly 62 years to Kathleen (nee Marion). Loving father of Della Marie, the late Wayne (1979), Michael (Maureen), and Karen Marion (Claude). Cherished Papa of Cassandra (Sean), Maria (Wayne), Suzanne (Tyler), Michelle, Dianne (Jonathan), Sarah, Emilly, and great Papa of 8 great grandchildren. Survived by his sister Gilberette, Rev. Sister St. Rose of the Daughters of Wisdom, Ottawa. Predeceased by his siblings Roger, Paul-Emile, Aurel, Joseph, Fernand, Rose, Juliette, and Annette. Del was a WWII Veteran, having served as Bandsman. He worked at Ford Motor Company in Oakville, before working and retiring with Petro Canada. Del was very involved in sports, both playing and coaching in the Waterdown community. He was a devoted member of the Catholic Church, and also enjoyed his time playing with the Oakville Citizen Band. Most importantly Del was the rock and foundation of his family, and his sense of humour, and love will always be remembered. Family will receive friends at KITCHING STEEPE & LUDWIG FUNERAL HOME, 146 Mill St. N., Waterdown, on Sunday, June 26, 2016 from 1 p.m. – 3 p.m., and 6 p.m.- 8 p.m. Legion Service 7:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at ST. THOMAS THE APOSTLE ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH, 715 Centre Rd, Waterdown on Monday, June 27, 2016 at 10 a.m. Private Cremation. Following the mass a reception will be held at the Waterdown Legion, Branch 551. As expressions of sympathy donations to St. Thomas the Apostle Church would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
