Was a former sailor in French Navy, according to my grandmother Frances, his daughter - she said he had deserted and changed his name. He was injured in the Minto (NB) coal mines on January 3, 1940 when a cage (name of the elevator transporting miners up and down) fell on him and broke his back - he suffered for seven months from a broken back. Also according to Frances, David had a brother Joseph and a sister Marie (Mary). Joseph moved to Quebec.
