1917 – 2003.

OXFORD – Charles Ora Spencer, 86, passed away at home surrounded by his loved ones on Wednesday, Oct. 8. He was known as Charlie to friends and family.

Born in Milford to George and Ethel Robbins Spencer on Aug. 15, 1917, he was educated in Brownsville schools.

He served in the United States Army during World War II. His tour of duty included time in France, Germany and Holland. He also assisted in the rebuilding of the Panama Canal.

Following the service and until he retired, Mr. Spencer worked as an electrician.

In 1945, he married Catherine Rolfe Fortier.

He was an avid fisherman and hunter who enjoyed the outdoors.

He was a member of numerous organizations including the Masonic Lodge, South Paris Sportsmen’s Club, Broiler Club, American Legion, Oxford Historical Society, AARP and a 30-year member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers #567.

He was a member of the Grace Fellowship Church of Oxford.

He loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and was greatly loved in return.
