The Certificate of Marriage for (Caroline Boivin & John Baptiste (La) Plante) dated 22 July 1849 is registered at Mount St-Patrick, Renfrew, Ontario, Canada at the church of St-Patrick (No parents are listed on the Certificate of Marriage)
A hand-written marriage index card retrieved from [Cardex Institut Drouin Microfilm] dated 22 July 1849 at Mount St-Patrick, Renfrew, Ontario; indicates that Caroline Boivin parents are listed as (Denis Boivin & Catherine Gauvreau) and Jean-Baptiste Laplante parents are listed as (Louis Laplante & M. Louise Asselin), unfortuanetely this documented source is not a church record therefore it has limited credibility unless the index card was actually recorded by someone who may have had access to archives (private collections) or parish registers.
The Kardex was made in the 1950’s after the Blue Drouin (originally the Black Kardex) was produced for internal purposes. The Red Book was made in the 1960’s.
The information of the parents can also come from the family who purchase a genealogy bible or a family tree, not only the church records.
On the Kardex file, you will see a note written Laplante, Ls. Nap. 2 – 1. Normally, it means that the marriage is the second generation of the person who purchase the family tree.
