North Grosvenordale - Alice S. (Spenard) Toutant, 78, of Red Bridge Road, died yesterday, August 8, at her home after a long illness.
Her husband, Conrad Z. Toutant died in 1973. She leaves four sons, Ronald, Raymond, Guy and Rene Toutant all of North Grosvenordale; two daughters, Gisele, wife of Angelo Cornell of Woodstock, and Muriel, wife of Michael Angelo of Preston, Conn; a brother, Leo Spenard of Sturbridge; four sisters, Irene Bergeron and Gertrude, wife of Ernest Gregoire, both of Southbridge, Sister Rachel de le Ste. Famille, O. Carm., stationed in the Philippines, and Theresa Spenard of Webster, 14 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
She was born in St. Pierre des Becquets, Quebec, Canada, a daughter of Alphonse and Aurore (Monpas) Spenard. She had lived in North Grosenordale since 1924.
She was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church and was a member of the Columbiettes.
The funeral will be Monday from the Valade Funeral Home, 202 Main Street, with a Mass at 10;30 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church, Main Street. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
Calling hours at the funeral home are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow. Memorial donations may be sent to the American Heart Association, 172 Boston Post Road, East Lyme, Conn 06333.
