James and Annie got separated after their daughter Jane's birth in 1872 and before January 2,1883, when Annie's father John Gurry made a testament where he did mention the fact (Notary records of Samuel-Isidore Glackmeyer, available on the internet throught the province of Quebec's Nationale Archives). They were still living separately in 1891 acc. to the census. Their daughter Jane, heir of her grandfather, has by mistake be inscribed as a male named «James» in the 1881 census.
