Ann S. Chartraw Ann S. Chartraw died Feb. 23, 2004, at the Carson
Tahoe Hospital in Carson City, Nev. Born in Menomonie on Nov. 19, 1920, she was
the daughter of Henry and Eva Rudow. She attended local schools in Menomonie,
and received both her undergraduate and master's degrees from Stout State
University in home economics. While at Stout, she met Raymond R. Chartraw of Crandon
whom she would marry in 1944. During their lives together, they and their
three children moved extensively in the United States and South America. She taught on the elementary, secondary and
college levels, finishing her teaching career as associate professor of home
economics at the Villa Maria College in Erie, Penn. Her love of traveling led her on many adventurous
trips in the last 15 years of her life, including ones to China, Russia,
Mongolia and Central America. Moving to Carson City in 2000 to be near her
daughter, Candice, she delighted in the visits of her children, grandchildren
and great grandchildren. Her husband, Ray, died in 1988. Her brother, John
Rudow, also predeceased her. She leaves a sister, Mary Snoeyenbos of Decatur,
Ill.; a son, R. Richard Chartraw of Sierra Madre, Calif.; two daughters, Candice Chartraw of Carson City,
Nev. and Suzanne Tremblay of Lanesboro, Mass.; four grandchildren and three
great-grandchildren.
