Biographie Boucher Charles

He was a "voyageur" and was a member of the MacKenzie expedition organized by the Astor Fur Co. This expedition left LaChine in 1810 passed Detroit to St. Louis and arrived at the Columbia River in 1812 having experienced many hardhsips and almost continual attacks from Indians. At the Columbia River a post was established and called Astoria. The incidences of this enterprise is subject of Washington Irving's book Astoria. Charles returnes from the Pacific coast in 1816 passed through Michigan to Canada. He sett with his family in 1830 on a farm at Grosse Isle.
