Biographie Michaud Elie
Elie Henri Joseph Michaud of Gravelbourg, SK passed away surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, June 22, 2019, at the age of 94 years. Elie was born on November 17, 1924, in Gravelbourg, SK. He was the second youngest of Alfred and Sarah Michaud’s children, and had four brothers and two sisters. Elie had many fond memories of growing up on the farm, where he enjoyed skating and sledding. He left the farm at a young age to seek employment in Gravelbourg. Elie worked various jobs in and around the area. In 1947, he began his career in mechanics at Forcier’s Garage, and worked there until 1959 when the business closed. He then worked at Parkview Motors, retiring in 1988. Elie met the love of his life, Betty Bauer, at the Gravelbourg Hospital when he had an appendix attack. Elie and Betty were married on November 19, 1945, in Gravelbourg. They were blessed with 8 children, 19 grandchildren, and 28 great grandchildren. Spending time with family was important to Elie and Betty. On Sunday’s, family enjoyed gathering at Elie and Betty’s for wonderful meals. Their philosophy was always "the more people, the merrier.” Elie was a fixer, and always managed to repair everything. Things were fixed with items such a black tape, gum, staples, wire, black thread, or sometimes even spit! Elie and Betty enjoyed going for car rides, especially after his retirement. They had daily drives around Gravelbourg and to various communities in the area. He loved to check out what was going on around town. Elie had a heart of gold and was very proud of his family. He was a good provider, a family man, and was a good man. Elie and Betty never missed an event and loved attending birthdays, baptisms, weddings, grads – you name it and they were there. After Betty’s passing on November 12, 2011, Elie moved to the Foyer d’Youville in Gravelbourg. He always appreciated the company he got and loved seeing all the little kids. Elie was the last living sibling of the Michaud and the Bauer families. He leaves a wonderful legacy and has many namesakes to carry on the Michaud name. We are comforted knowing that Elie is reunited with his sweetheart, Betty. Till we meet again. Elie is survived by his loving family, son Ron (Dianne), son Al (Shirlee), daughter Diane (Allen) Bouvier, son Roger (Linda), daughter Denise Coward (Armand Sylvestre), daughter Colette (Glenn) Knudsen, daughter Lorraine (Brad) Shilton, daughter-in-law Judy Michaud, 19 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
