Biographie Legroulx Joseph

A veteran railroader, Joseph Lagrue of 212 S. Marks st., Thunder Bay, died March 20th after a long illness. He was 83. 
 

Mr. Lagrue was born at Bainsville, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Z. Legroulx and started a lifelong railroad career, at the age of 15, with the CPR at Montreal. He later worked with the Ontario Northland Railway before going to Winnipeg. In 1907 Mr. Lagrue joined the CNR, working in the Western Provinces until moving to Fort William (now Thunder Bay) in 1924.

As a locomotive engineer he brought the first load of ore from Atikokan to the ore dock for shipment. He retired in 1952.

M. Lagrue married Lorette Tremblay at Fort Willlam in 1927. She predeceased him and he is survived by one son, Maurice and three granddaughters.

Two brothers also survive, Arthur Legroulx, Coteau Landing, Que.; and Philip Legroulx of Alexandria. 

Philip Legroulx and son Lawrence of Glen Roy, attended the funeral held March 23rd to St. Patrick's Cathedral in Thunder Bay. Rev. J. J. Muldoon offered the mass in the presence of CNR employees, relatives and many friends.
