Biographie Rochon Joseph-Joel

"The Leader Post" - Saskatchewan : Former well-known hockey star is dead -

Montmartre - Sask. 24 Sept 1938

Monday morning in Sacred Heart church was held the funeral service of Joseph Joel (Joey) Rochon who died in a Saskatoon hospital following an operation. He was born at North Bay, ON, May 24, 1886, the eldest child of Mrs. and the late Joseph Rochon. In his youth he was one of the stars in the Pacific Coast Hockey league, later was station agent at Alida and Maryfield, Sask, then operated a picture show in villages between Maryfield and Strothoaks. The past year he conducted a confectionery store in this village. He leaves surviving one daughter, Lea, of Shorthoaks; one son, Alden, of Montmartre, also his mother and sister, Mrs. A.J. Boyer of Montmartre, and one brother, J. H. Rochon of Candiac, Sask. Funeral service was conducted by Rev. Monsignor J.A. Thériault, while service at the graveside was conducted by Rev. J.A. Foisy. Pallbearers were Walter Lavoy, Ovide Robert, Omer Coupal and André Ferraton. Wreaths from the Montmartre Hockey club, of which the deceased had been the manager since his return to Montmartre, Mrs. J.H. Rochon and others as well as many spiritual cards adorned the casket.
