Biographie Day Rachel
Tracey / Day info:
Info that was handed down via my Grandmother and my aunts on the Tracey side from my Great Grandmother (Margaret Curley) who married Christopher Tracey (2nd born of William Tracey and Rachel Day. 2 points of interest which are very important: as handed down
- Rachel’s maiden name was Day from Tipperary (my Aunts always spelled it (DAY)
- William and Rachel arrived here carrying a child; they were unable to remember if the child was 3 days old, 3 weeks old or 3 months old. The Tracey’s believe that child was John and therefore no Baptismal certificate will be found.
- William and Rachel had 11 children
- The Family lived in Fitzroy as per the census of 1851 where 9 of the 11 were at home. John and Christopher were gone.
- They moved to South March where they appear again in the 1861 census. The four youngest were still at home.
- entries in the register are not correct when they use Dague and or Dagg. If any body wants to trace Rachel pass, they will never be able to if they use Dague or Dagg. It is Day here in Canada and could be Dae back in Ireland
You will also notice that Rachel and William Baptized one of their children using Rachel's Maiden Name Day

William and Rachel also donated a stained glass window for St. Isidore church in South March when it was built
