Biographie Day Rachel
Tracey info.
Info that was handed down via my Grand mother (Mary McCann) and her daughters (my aunts) on the Tracey side from my Great Grandmother (Margaret Curley) who married Christopher Tracey (2nd born of William Tracey and Rachel Day.
2 points of interest which are very important: as handed down
Point 1 Rachel’s maiden name was Day from Tipperary (my aunts always spelled it (DAY)
Point 2 William and Rachel arrived here carrying a child; they were unable to remember if the child was 3 days old, or 3 weeks old when they arrived in Huntley. William and Rachel had 11 children.
The Family lived in Fitzroy, near South March as per the census after their arrival in Huntley
They moved to South March where they appear again in the 1861 census.
We asked for a search of all of the children from the Catholic Church and you will see that the entries in the register are not correct when they use Dague and Dagg and Day if any body wants to trace Rachel’s pass, they will never be able too if they use Dague or Dagg. After that search I was able to identify all of these records.
A number of entries use Day and also William and Rachel Day Baptized one of their daughters using her maiden name Rose-Anna-Day Tracey
We know the Fahey Family and Christopher Tracey’s sister Elizabeth was married to Michael Fahey first marriage at St. Isidore church in South March
I have a picture of the first house and only house that Christopher Tracey lived in.
Also have original photos of Christopher and his wife Margaret Curley
Have photos of Michael Fahey and Elizabeth Tracey also
A lot of spelling errors were made by the R.C. Church in these times. At least Rachel used her maiden Name in the Baptismal record for her daughter Rose Anna Day Tracey
But just to give you an idea Christopher Tracey’s wife Margaret Curley died in 1924 and lived with my Grandmother Mary McCann and my Grandfather Lawrence Tracey along with there 8 children. I Bernard Tracey was born in 1945 about 2 miles from Christopher’s farm, hopefully you will realize that the info I am passing along is truthful and helpful

William and Rachel also donated a stained glass window for St. Isidore church in South March when it was built
