Mrs. Eleanore (Harpin) Jacques, widow of Antoine Jacques, who resided in Woonsocket for over three-quarters of a century, died at the home of her son-in-law, Joseph Coutu, on the Smithfield Road, near Park Square, yesterday afternoon at 1:30, aged 81 years. She had not been in the best of health for several months and on May 1 last she took to her bed.
Born in Canada, she lived in her native country by two years, and then came to the United States with her parents and settled in Woonsocket which se had since called her home. She saw this city grow from a small village to a hustling manufacturing center. Fifty-three years ago on August 8 last she was united in marriage to Antoine Jacques, who died 18 months ago, at St. Charles Church, this city. Mrs. Jacques was wll known, especially among the old residents. She was of a quiet nature and was ever devoted to her home and family.
She is survived by two sons and two daughters, Henry and George Jacques of this city, and Dora, wife of Joseph Coutu. Two sisters, also survive, Mrs. Louise Gobeille and Mrs. Cyrille Mailloux, also of Woonsocket.
The funeral will be held from the home of Mr. Coutu, Monday morning, with a high mass of requiem at 10 o'clock at the Church of Holy Family. Burial at Precious Blood Cemetery.
