Ephrem Proulx Dies Here Sunday Morning Resident for 51 Years
Funeral services were held Wednesday morning at 9 o'clock at St Alphonsus Church fur Ephrem Proulx, 68, a resident of this village for more than a half-century, who died Sunday morning at 7:13 at his home, 8 Deer st. He had been in failing health for about three years. Interment was in St. Alphonsus Cemetery Born at Chenierville, P.Q., on August 16, 1876, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Cyprian Proulx, he came to Tupper Lake as a youth of 17, among the early settlers of this village. Mr. Proulx engaged in lumbering most of his life, working for the Santa Clara Lumber Co., Emporium Lumber Co and other fims, and logging as a contractor. His last contract was a out of hardwood for the O.W.D. on Mt Morris in 1925. Thereafter he was employed for a few years by McCarthy Brothers, prior to his retirement about twelve years ago. He was married In Tupper Lake 47 years ago to Miss Clarina Lefevre, who survives. Surviving also are six daughters: the Misses Dorothy, Florence and Ella Proulx and Mrs. Lucille Brady, all of New York city; Mrs. Charles (Florentine) Roscoe, Piercefield; and Mrs. Frank (Joan) Peppino, Tupper Lake; six sons: Raymond Proulx. Piercefield; Randolph and Robert Proulx. both of Philadelphia, Pa ; Leo, Homer and Rolland Proulx, all of Tupper Lake; one brother, Cyprien Proulx of Faust; 13 grandchildren, and two greatgrandchildren.
