Biographie Cantin Philias
Joseph Philias Cantin, son of Alexandre Cantin and Marie Marcoux, was baptized on 22 Dec 1864 at Saint Ferdinand d'Halifax, Mégantic, Québec, Canada. He married Marie Frechette Côté, daughter of Joseph Frechette Côté and Célina Grégoire, on 24 Oct 1887 at Saint Ferdinand. Philias was widowed in Feb 1905. Shortly thereafter, he immigrated to the United States and, on 2 Oct 1905, married Obéline Ruel, daughter of Germain Ruel and Julie Roy, in Dover, Strafford, New Hampshire. In Aug 1919, Philias was widowed for the second time. His third marriage was to Georgiana Grégoire, the widow of his brother Ferdinand Cantin. Their wedding took place on 21 Jun 1920 at Saint Désiré in Lac Noir, Mégantic. Philias was widowed for the third time in Jul 1933. He died at age 79 and was interred on 10 Mar 1944 in Mount Calvary Cemetery in Somersworth, New Hampshire, the site of burial of his second and third wives.
