MISHAWAKA – Ross B. Avery, 92, long-time Mishawaka resident and former resident of Simonton Lake in Elkhart County, died at 1:20 p.m. Wednesday in the Golden Age Manor Nursing Home after a long illness. He retired from the Twin Branch plant of Indiana and Michigan Electric Company in 1952, after working with electronic for 41 years. In 1915 he was awarded a patent for a radio receiver unit for wireless technology. He was born on April 12, 1888 in Three Rivers, Mich.

He married Ruth Hickey on June 16, 1915 in South Bend. She died on Dec. 30, 1966. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Marie DeJack of Mishawaka; Mrs. Jean Books of White Pigeon, Mich. and Miss Arlene Avery of Fort Wayne; five sons, Francis of Port Charlotte, Fla.; Richard and Wilfred of Mishawaka, John of Osceola, and Joseph of Granger; 21 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren, and a brother, H. Leon Avery of Mishawaka.

Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday in the Hickey Funeral Home, where services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery at the University of Notre Dame.
