Biographie Hazel Sirois
WEST GARDINER -- Hazel M. Sirois died in peace on Jan. 31, 2005, surrounded by her family. She was born in Escourt, Quebec, on Sept. 8, 1925. She was the 12th of 15 children. In 1943, at age 18, she married her husband, Philip, and moved to the United States. For the next 35 years, she raised her family and worked alongside her husband in the logging and lumber industries. Following the death of her husband in 1978, she continued to operate the family business until she retired in 1983. She lived out her retirement in her home in West Gardiner, participating fully in her children's and grandchildren's lives and sharing a variety of interests with them. Hazel passed along her passion of nature, art, sewing, crafts and her strong religious faith. She was a parishioner of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Gardiner and an active participant of the prayer group. She is survived by her son Marcel Sirois and his wife, Lena, of West Gardiner, and grandchildren Michelle Gilman, Mark Sirois, Krystal Hoerl and Karen Sirois; her son Francis Sirois and his wife, Debbie, of Sidney, and grandchildren Jason Sirois, Sherry Charrier, Becky Sirois, Chase Crocker and Jeremy Crocker; her son Patrick Sirois and his wife, Bethany, of Litchfield, and grandchildren Nicholas Sirois, Talia Sirois and Elizabeth Sirois; her daughter, Anne Valley and her husband, Thomas Valley, of West Gardiner, and grandchildren Vanessa Valley and Devryn Valley; her daughter-in-law Bertha Sirois of Farmingdale and grandchildren Eugene Sirois, Ricky Sirois, Matthew Sirois, John Paul Sirois and Luke Sirois; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Philip J. Sirois; her son Phillip P. Sirois; and her daughter-in-law Linda Sirois.
