John B. Deschenes,
66, of 377 Main Street, Biddeford, died suddenly yesterday at a local hospital.
Born at
Wolftown, Que., August 2, 1896, he was a son of Joseph and Marie (Fortier)
Deschenes. For many years he operated his own carriage shop in Biddeford, and
for the past 18 years had done all of the painting and lettering of the Delorge
Baking company trucks. He was a communicant of St. Joseph church and a member
of the Sacred Heart League of the parish.
Surviving
are his widow, Mrs. Eva (Boutin) Deschenes; two daughters, Mrs. Paul Lapointe
and Mrs Edward Couture, Saco; three sons, Maurice Deschenes, a scientist with
the U.S. Governement in Las Vegas, Nev., Gerard Deschenes, Saco, Normand Deschenes,
Biddeford; a brother, Paul Deschenes, Hartford, Conn; two sisters, Mrs.
Bernadette Gonneville, Saco, and Mrs. Laura Paradise, Hartford, Conn.; and 12
grandchildren.
Funeral services
will be conducted Saturday at 8:30 a.m. from St. Joseph church. Friends may
call at the Sansoucy Funeral home, 1 Stone street, Biddeford, from 10 a.m. to 10
p.m., starting today.

Funerals – John Deschenes Funeral services
were conducted this morning from St. Joseph church, Biddeford, where a solemn
requiem high mass was celebrated by Msgr. Elie Hevey. Rev. Normand Carrier
served as deacon and Rev. Sylvio Levesque as sub deacon. Singing was by church
choir with Mrs. Diana Rousselle at the organ.
Bearers
were all members of the Sacred Heart League of the parish and included John
Renouf, George Trottier, Herve Dubreuil, Louis Gagnon, Adolph Gagnon and Albert
Ouellette. Burial was in the family lot at St. Joseph cemetery, Rev. Fr.
Carrier saying graveside prayers.
Attending
from out of town were Maurice Deschenes, Las Vegas, Nev.; Paul Deschenes,
Hartford, Conn.; Mrs. Blanche Farrier, Central Falls, R.I., and Mrs. Alfred
Goulet, Alfred.
